Atlas Venture, one of the leading venture capital firms in the biotech industry, has raised $450 million for a new fund, the firm’s leaders told STAT exclusively.
The fund — Atlas’ 14th — will go towards seed and series A rounds for biotech companies, most of which the firm will have a hand in creating. Atlas rarely takes outside pitches from entrepreneurs, though it will sometimes team up with other VC firms that have launched a new startup.
The news comes just a few weeks after Partner Bruce Booth mentioned that the firm was raising the fund during his annual “year-in-review” video presentation.
